This is how the world is run....
Gotta love the way our country is run. We now have a man who has been referred to as "the very model of a person we do not want as an ambassador" by a member of his own political party as our man in the UN.
He has repeatedly and pointedly made defamatory remarks about the organization.
And our president decided he should be the ambassador despite objections by Democrats, despite objections by Republicans, despite objections by the people he supposedly represents.
He specifically waited until Congress was in recess to snap his fingers and appoint this f***tard as ambassador because he didn't even trust his party's strangling majority in both houses to save his nominee.
If this is any indication of how our next Supreme Court nominees go, I fully expect to be living in a police state by the time Bush's tenure is over.

Wow! That's a terrifying thought. I still don't understand why it is that his is in office. It boggles the mind.
Because instead of voting on issues people are voting on platforms.
Are you anti abortion? Are you anti education? Well... you can´t really seperate those two, that would require a) thinking and b) voting based on information rather than dogma!
We have teachers voting for a candidate who gutted our educational systems because one of their knee-jerk issues happened to be a platform for the jackass.
We all need to vote *for* the issues we agree on and compromise on the issues we don´t agree on instead of the other way around. Now we choose between ¨OMG, killing babies is wrong! (But holding teachers to unreasonable standards, poisoning our air and water, and waging war unnecessarily are okay.)¨ and ¨OMG, burning oil is wrong! (But taxing to balance spending, broken welfare systems, and personal misconduct are okay.)¨
Taking those specific issues together how about somebody run a candidate on the following platform. Supporting our broken welfare system indefinitely is wrong but abolishing it altogether won´t help either. Tax is a necessary evil until we discover some way to make people volunteer to responsibly run our government. What you do on your own time, even as a politician, is your own business. Oil independence should be our number one priority with emphasis on renewable clean energy sources. War is a last resort to be used to defend our nation or our allies from clear and present dangers and the power to wage war rests with congress, not in the office of the president. Abortion being the divisive issue that it is should be addressed at the state level in order to bring the law in line with community standards rather than dictate to people how they should run their lives.
I think that candidate most of us could agree on. For my wishlist I´d add that in states with anti-abortion laws, it be required that any couple who votes against abortion should be required to adopt at least one unwanted baby. You can´t just force everyone not to have abortions and then bitch about them being unfit parents, you *must* give back where you have taken.
